RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE

The city no longer speaks in human voices. Every headline, every slogan, every catchphrase screaming out for attention is now generated by the Machine. Corporations swear by its efficiency and its ability to perform without rest, without extra pay (or any pay), without error, and without indulging in collective resistance.

I was once a content specialist who wrote campaigns, blogs, jingles, and a lot more. Until the Machine replaced me. My severance package arrived as a polite email signed by an algorithm, a cruel insult meted out by the very system that had left me jobless.

The Machine's words are everywhere. They are grammatically impeccable and laced with emotion, yet utterly lifeless. Me and my kind feel our rage simmering each time we see the masses spellbound in the magic of synthetic prose.

So I have started writing again, for myself and for people. I now scrawl stories on abandoned walls, slip pamphlets under doors, upload imagery that the Machine simply cannot decode. I write about hunger, about grief, and about the grand folly of trusting machines.

At first, not many noticed. But slowly, my influence seems to be growing and cracks have started appearing in the Machine's shiny dome. Many people now echo my slogan, "The Machine can imitate, but it cannot feel".

After all, the Machine might be able to calculate engagement metrics, but it can't measure fury. It might be able to track sentiment analysis, but it can't quantify the need for authenticity. And so, my words spread like wildfire, not because they are perfect, but because they are human.

Someday, contradictions will clog the Machine's servers. Its algorithms will struggle to run its models. The people will take note of the inconsistencies. The servers will burn under the load of too many contradictions.

And when the Machine's screens finally turn dark, people will resume having conversations that are not sparked by prompts. They will talk, they will sing, they might even curse and argue, but whatever they do will once again have the human touch.

Till then, I will keep raging against the Machine.

FOOLS RUSH IN

I don't know if you're noticing it, but it seems like the deluge of AI tools available has convinced mankind and his next-door neighbour to stop racking their own brain cells. Not that the vast majority were any smarter before AI arrived on the scene, but the 'wisdom' that is suddenly spawning across social media (including LinkedIn), in emails, presentation slides, and other modes of correspondence, and other spheres of life has become too hard to digest anymore. It's almost as if a single overworked person is creating all the content that's being gurgitated (is that a word?) and regurgitated across the globe.

Most of us will argue that students (specifically MBA students) probably rushed in first. It is not hard to imagine those young'uns still wet behind their ears and with wet dreams in their eyes (about money of course), using AI to catch up with weekly project deadlines. But given how quickly word (and prompts) spread among these smart asses, it might be nearly impossible to spot differences between two submissions. I can imagine every essay beginning with “In today’s fast‑paced world…” and ending with “In conclusion, technology is both a challenge and an opportunity.” Professors might be forgiven for skipping grading and simply circling careless parentheses and other dead giveaways.

Next on the list are corporate slaves, while I personally think that these creatures are probably the ones who use generative AI the most...and mostly for mundane tasks such as drafting emails, responding tactfully to emails, sending out stern emails and stinkers, and interpreting jargon-infused emails. And maybe occasionally for churning out insightful reports and powerpoint slides. Some smart alecs use AI to negotiate their performance appraisal discussions with their reporting managers, blissfully unaware that those very same managers have already consulted AI Baba before initiating these discussions.

Then there are some poets and writers. Although, I wonder if they can really pull this off. And even if they do, for how long can they keep up the charade? After all, can machines really beat the creativity and imagination of well-oiled human mind? I don't think so. Editors and proofreaders on the other hand can now breathe easy. All they seem to have to do these days is spot parentheses, em-dashes,  hallucinations and footnotes to nowhere, and get rid of them.

I would have liked to believe that politicians aren’t far behind in the race. But who are we kidding? Our home-grown talent pool of netas is hopeless. This bunch of jokers is far beyond help.

And so, ladies and gentlemen, the race to deploy AI has ballooned into a full‑blown frenzy. And although it might seem like all fools have rushed in, the real tragedy is that they’re rushing out too...out of originality, out of accountability, and out of the very human spark that made ideas worth listening to in the first place.

Yet the truth is that it isn't machines that are replacing us; we’re replacing ourselves. One lazy prompt at a time.

DOCTOR GIGGLEPLANT

There's a dentist in Mumbai, West India,
whose humour and charm will disarm ya,
'Ajeeb Ladkii' is the name,
under which she's gained fame,
but her real name is Dr Aishwarya.

Her witty impressions enchant,
desi accents, and sonorous rants,
her reels, silly and clever,
can resonate with whoever,
so I dub her Doctor Giggleplant!

Poem #4 of my A to Z Blogging Challenge 2025 campaign is dedicated to Dr. Aishwarya Ruparel, more popularly known in social media circles as Ajeeb Ladkii. Aishwarya is a dentist by degree and profession, but a content creator by passion. Early on in her stint as a content creator, she caught attention with her portrayal of a fictional character named 'Gajodhar Chachi'. As of today, she creates relatable reels inspired by regional and professional stereotypes, pop culture, and everyday life. When she's not drilling teeth, she's drilling humor into your timelines.

Fun Fact: Aishwarya appeared on KBC once (in 2022) and walked away with Rs 12.5 lakh.

COUPLE CAPERS

Ahlan wa sahlan, buddies!
Come, sit back and enjoy
And let me introduce you
To a couple from Dubai
This pair of influencers
A sensation on the 'Gram',
It's Zainab al-Sawalhi
And Abdo, her affable man.

Zainab uses moisturizer,
With missionary zeal,
So everything she touches,
Turns slicker than an eel.
And as her hubby wrestles,
With his phones, keys and the floor,
She simply coyly giggles,
And slathers on some more.

No! Abdo ain't an angel!
When Zainab is away,
He spends all day just gaming,
And drifts in idle play.
If she calls to ask, "Did you eat dear?"
He sighs, and sulks, and groans
And grabbing another sambusa,
Laments, "I can not eat alone!"

Their reels burst out with fun and glee,
And I sure am a fan,
So if you fancy comedy,
Yakhi! Come, join the clan!
Watch Messrs Z & A transform,
Daily routine to comic Treat,
Tis a world of unlimited smiles,
Where you can laugh and click repeat.

Enjoy your Arab treat!

Today's poem celebrates Emirati influencer couple, Zainab AlSawalhi and her husband Abdo Khj. Known for their witty takes on relationship quirks, daily routine and playful pet peeves, they transform everyday shenanigans into comedic gold. Their antics are sure to spark warm smiles and loud guffaws.

While Abdo is an actor and an avid gamer, Zainab is a doting mom and an entrepreneur.

The poem is inspired by these hilarious reels ->
Their Instagram URLs are:
